Guys, I’m so happy! I finally figured out how to mix the PERFECT paint for a pendulum pour.

Pendulum pours are a ton of fun! It involves hanging a cup or bottle from a string and then letting the cup spiral around over your canvas. Today I’m spicing it up by brushing a gradient background before doing the pendulum portion.
An ideal pendulum paint is thin but viscous - it needs to hold itself together in a thin stream, rather than breaking into droplets. House paint is excellent for this, but I wanted the freedom to use all my tube paint colors! Here’s the recipe I tried today, which worked really well:
1 part paint
2 parts untinted gloss house paint (Behr deep base, like you’d use for a bloom pour)
2 parts floetrol
Water to thin
My pendulum colors were Primary Yellow and Phthalo Blue by Blick Studio Acrylics. For the last blue color, I added some white semigloss house paint to the Phthalo blue.
My background colors were Titanium White and Olive Green by Creative Inspirations, and Burnt Umber by Blick Studio Acrylics. I used them straight from the tube/bottle, without thinning them.
