So, fish shared a clipping strat for Infini with all the Dustforce TASers a while back, and it more or less goaded me into re-routing the entirety of the map. This was a beast to work on, but man, I'm pretty happy with seeing a sub 2 minute Infini. Turns out when you put spikes everywhere, you can also jorf everywhere (not literally), and that's pretty much what this run does.
Annotations this time!
~5.900: So yeah, this is the clip strat I mentioned earlier. Literally saves 3.3 seconds. Thank you based fish.
~17.600: This room's strat is thanks to fimbz, who gave me the idea of passing back under and tera-jumping to avoid having to go to the right side of the room. What's unfortunate though is that because I had sped up some strats right before this, the cycles changed and I had to use a side heavy to hit the quills into the bears rather than dashing into a side light. Also, thanks to fresh for reminding me about "magnetized" ceiling dashes, which made exiting this room much much faster and allowed for a much better slope boost.
~47:700: There's a weird interaction with the very edges of slopes when downdashing into them at certain (low?) speeds and at certain positions. For whatever reason, whenever the proper conditions are fulfilled (I'm still not entirely sure what those conditions are tbh), landing on the edge of a slope pops you back into hover state, allowing you to fast fall again. This double fast fall ends up giving you significantly more speed down the slope than a single one, and is much faster than just hovering over the slope for a bit then fast falling.
~1:07.300: The madness officially begins. We begin apple adventure 1 with a huge jorf slope boost, and then proceed to completely abuse jorfing to clear this section, only ever having hit the apple one time. Man can actually do this with 0 apple hits, but this is significantly slower than doing it with 1. Kid does it in 0 no problem. This is actually not even just a matter of swag, since hitting an apple eats up about 6 frames: ~3 frames from light attack slowdown, and ~3 frames from light attack hitstop. The old strat hit the apple 15 times (which was, admittedly, superfluous in and of itself), so hitting the apple only once saves around 84 frames by itself. Throw in all the jorf boosts and this section was cut down by quite a lot.
~1:20.000: Another Dustforce player, Misery, posted an RTA strat with Kid for this room which involved skipping the climb on the far right side. Turns out, because of the magic of jorfing, that same strat was applicable (and faster!) with Man.
~1:29.900: Hnnnnnng that ceiling boost! This is followed up with going back to the left via an extended mapler slide. Of course, what would Infini be without a bunch of jorfing, so I threw another one in there right before the small tera drop to refresh my aircharge to setup for yet another jorf!
~1:43.300: Jorfs. Literally, jorfs. Most of this strat is the same as the last Infini TAS; fortunately, I managed to work out a slightly faster method for the bottom left walls! Infini TAS is likely the furthest removed from RTA possibility out of any other Dustforce TAS, and it's almost entirely because of this section. Some of the crazier players will attempt 2 or 3 jorfs in RTA IL runs to save time where applicable... But try 8 dash jorfs, along with 8 frame perfect light attacks, along with super precise left/right adjustments.
Ending: Thanks again to fish for pointing out that doing a super after hitstop rather than during it saves a frame for black voodoo magic reasons. Hitbox pls.
And because I was curious, I counted the total number of jorfs in the run: 28. See if you can spot them all!
