Morgan Silver Dollar, Morgan dollar, and specifically the 1895-O Morgan dollar. The reason this coin is kind of unique is that they only made four hundred and fifty thousand of them in New Orleans. That's where the old mint mark, that's what that means they were minted in New Orleans, and most of these coins are found in grades almost uncirculated 50 or below. So they're very rare in mint state.

So if you are looking for a mint State 1895 O Morgan Silver Dollar, it's going to be very hard to find and it's going to be very expensive. Just to give you an idea, of the 3,000 or so certified, known certified, 1890 500 Silver Dollars Morgans, only 4% of them, 4%, are mint state or above MS 60 or above. So they're extremely rare in mint state and for this I want to go over to the Land of Coins website and show you. We'll compare the mintages of other Morgan Dollars and also look at the price guide and we'll see how the values of this coin have gone up over the decades from 1950 all the way to today.

But information on coins the price guides, we're looking for the 1895 O. You click price guides, you'll see the charts. Scroll down to dollar, all United States coins are here, we're looking at Morgan's. And then we scroll down to the 1895 O, 1895, and right there. So you can see 1895 O, let's go to the very fine 20 grade. In 1958 it was $4, in 1965 it was still $4 but then it started going up in price. 1980 $70, 1986 $100, year 2000 $130 it keeps going.

This is a great coin, fairly rare, one of the rarer of the Morgan Dollars and that's why the values are going up quickly because a rare coin people want it to complete a collection. And of course the nicer it is the more expensive it gets. And the 1895 O is extremely rare like I said, only 4% of them are graded mint state or better. So that's why an MS 65 is almost or is over $200,000 if it's got really good details on the coin. You could get a very fine 20 for $360. Awesome coin for that price This coin's, my guess, is just going to keep going up in price and I'm very confident that it will. So if you're looking for a nice Morgan dollar, a unique one, one that has bragging rights, definitely check this out 1895 O dollar.

Let's go over to the mintage guides, so once you do that, scroll down to dollars, click Morgan and you'll see the mintage guide here. I'll zoom in for you, and we're looking for the 1895 O. And you'll see most of these are well into the millions. The 94 O is one million seven, 94 S is a million two. But right here 95 O only 450,000 were minted. You know, compare that to 1896 where they minted almost 10 million. So that's why this coin is one of the rare ones they only minted 450,000 and not many Morgans survived. So if there's a low mintage amount there's low mintage surviving.
