You won't regret hiring a home inspection professional to help you learn about your new home's condition and search for red flags. Most home buyers really don't know much about what might be an issue with a house... but the pro's do. Nobody ever said I wish I didn't hire a great home inspector when buying a house.
A home inspector will spend several hours at the property Looking at everything from the foundation to the roof and all the important elements in between. Within a day or so you will be sent a home inspection report detailing their findings, typically documenting anything noteworthy with more explanation and photos.
When it comes time to negotiate repairs, the home inspection report will provide a very compelling explanation of the issue. A home buyer complaining about an old roof is less meaningful than a trained professional explaining the roof is near the end of its usable life based on construction dates and materials used.
