The Minimum Guaranteed Income Bill 2023 was tabled in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly on 19th July 2023. This bill is divided into three components- the right to guaranteed employment in rural areas, the right to guaranteed employment in urban areas, and finally, the right to a guaranteed pension for the ones who are unable to join the labour force to earn a minimum income. The bill further guarantees 125 days of employment for rupees 255 per day. The guaranteed employment resulted in securing minimum wage for urban areas as well as Rural areas under their respective schemes.
While there are many differing views regarding this 2023 bill, the governor is yet to decide on the implementation of it on august 15th 2023.
