We can conform our lives and our actions to the culture around us. We don't have to. We can be transformed. How? By the renewing of our minds. And that because we've renewed our minds, our lives are transformed and we have a filter through which to view the world in front of us so that we know what God's will is. How do you know God's will in your life? You read the word and you apply what you learn. You see the world through the truth of Scripture. And as a result, we are transformed on a more regular, ongoing basis. There's transformation from old to new at salvation.
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” - (Romans 12:1-2)
