Servings: 18 buns
Ingredients:
• 4 cups flour
• 1.5 cups lukewarm milk
• 1 egg
• 1/3 cup sugar
• 70gm butter (room temperature)
• 2 tablespoons Instant-dry Yeast
• 1/4 teaspoons salt
While kneading need-
• 1/2 cup flour
Egg Wash-
• 1 large egg (lightly beaten with 1 tablespoon water )
Optional Garnish:
• Sesame Seeds
• Butter
Steps:
1️⃣ Add yeast, salt, sugar, and egg with flour.
2️⃣ Then add egg & milk. Knead for 10-15mins (by hand but if you are using stand mixer then 7-10mins )
3️⃣ Gradually add 1/2cup of flour and knead for 10-15 mins till a soft moist dough is formed.
4️⃣ Place the dough in a well-oiled bowl, turning it to coat with oil. Cover it and then let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled. (Rising time is dependent on the temperature of the room; let rise until the dough is doubled)
5️⃣ Take the dough out, make 18 pieces. Roll each dough piece into a ball, and then use your fingers to pinch the edges under until the seam is on the bottom. Then, cup your hand over the dough ball on the counter, and make circles on the counter with the dough to roll it into a perfect ball. Place the dough balls on a baking sheet, and cover it. Place in a warm place to rise for 30-40mins. They will be puffy when ready.
6️⃣ Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180° C.
7️⃣ Finally, make the topping: whisk the egg yolk with a splash of water. Brush generously on each bun, covering the entire surface, and then sprinkle with sesame seeds.
8️⃣ Bake for 18 minutes, until deeply golden brown.
