After decades of hostility, relations between Moscow and Beijing began to warm in the 1980s. Today, the relationship between Russia and China is described as a “comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era,” with Chinese leader Xi Jinping calling Russian President Vladimir Putin his “closest friends and a great colleague.” But where does the relationship go from here? Please join the CSIS China Power Project and Freeman Chair in China Studies on February 23rd for an in-depth discussion on the future of the bilateral relationship with Andrea Kendall-Taylor, Senior Fellow and Director of the Transatlantic Security Program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), Amb. Michael McFaul, Ken Olivier and Angela Nomellini Professor in International Studies in the Department of Political Science at Stanford University, Evan S. Medeiros, Penner Family Chair in Asia Studies and Distinguished Fellow in U.S.-China Studies at Georgetown University, Manoj Kewalramani, Chair of the Indo-Pacific Research Programme at the Takshashila Institution, and Angela Stent, Director Emerita of the Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies at Georgetown University.
This event was made possible through general support to CSIS.
