After a short time in Chengdu, we headed west into the Garze Tibet Autonomous Region, to me the best kept secret in all of China. The Region has just about everything you could ask for: grasslands, colossal peaks, monasteries, alpine lakes, and some incredible Tibetan culture. We stayed at the Khampa Nomad Ecolodge run by Angela and her husband Jorga, a truly special place that I would recommend to anyone traveling in the area. We tried to venture further into Manigange but unfortunately the police had closed off the region.
