Welcome back to SAMCO Painting and Decorating, I am sharing with you a spray painted tin roof process video or as we call it here in Australia, a corrugated metal or Colorbond roof, very common on lots of Australian homes.


This one is one of my favorite for this year, and is definitively the BEST of 2020!


It required:
3 days of pressure cleaning
-4 days of airless spray painting process
260 LITERS of PAINT ALL UP!!!
An airless sprayer, I am using a GRACO Mark IV

-Tip size 413 for fine spraying
PRESSURE between 15000 and 20000psi, low pressure spraying, using a fine tip


Paint PRODUCTS:
REGENT PAINTS- TileGuard Maxi Prime
TileGuard Roof Membrane


Roofs technicalities and other:
_ Getting rid of the old paint which was badly burnt, and powdery!

-Very steep roof, and in very good condition, no leaks, holes or metal sheets to be replaced, even the screw were in excellent condition with no rust on them. It is probably a 10 years old roof.
-ROOF SIZE, this was a HUGE roof, with lots of surface area to paint, my biggest of 2020.
-Boths roofs had easy access, which meant I could bring in the pressure washer pump trailer closer to the roofs for washing.


I am very happy with how the roofs turned out!
Hardly any OVER SPRAY, kept to a minimum, and considering how STEEP the main roof was NO LEAKY PAINT!! No DRIPS!! Which was one of my biggest concerns! Working on METAL ROOFS, can be unforgiving! It is a very smooth, either flat or corrugated surface, and any wrong moves such as paint leaks, drips, over spray, or a missed area can show and be exposed if not painted correctly! Add to that a bit of STEEPNESS and the drips could have been everywhere.
BUT, using the right tip size and pressure, those wrong moves can easily be avoided!
