If you wanted to know how to use the Deluge with modular synths then this is the video for you! I’ll show you how to use the CV and gate outputs on the Deluge to control modular and semi-modular synths. You’ll also learn how to take advantage of the Deluge LFOs to simplify sending modulation, and how to make drone notes by using audio-rate CV and gate output from the Deluge. I’ll also give you some tips and tricks along the way to get the most out of the Deluge.
NOTE 1: I use the mic input on the deluge in this video. It’s safer to use the line input jack when hooking up to synths!
NOTE 2: I say 'LFO' occasionally in the video where I mean to say arpeggiator. Sorry about that!
Take a look through this list of topics - I cover a lot!
00 Introduction
32 Connecting the Deluge to the 0-Coast
27 MIDI DIN to TRS cable makes it simple
00 Monitor audio via the Deluge line input
15 What is Control Voltage (CV) and how does it work?
30 What is a gate and how do you use them?
50 Visualising gates and CV to understand them better
30 Play the 0-Coast using CV and gate output from the Deluge
25 Using CV outputs to modulate 0-Coast envelope decay
38 Put CV values into the Deluge step sequencer
05 Modulate the 0-Coast wavefolder using CV from the Deluge
45 Send MIDI and CV values to the 0-Coast, play notes and modulate two things
05 Use the MIDI B channel as a third modulation source from the Deluge
08 How to use the Deluge LFO to modulate CV outputs - a quick way to change values
31 Using the Deluge as a handy MIDI to CV converter
23 Deluge LFO on CV track as a simple Sample and Hold generator
35 Example of using LFO sample and hold; modulating filter cutoff
27 Audio rate LFOs: sawtooth and triangle waves
02 Stacking CV outputs to create 'fatter' drones
01 How to adjust pitch of drones
16 Create square waves using the gate outputs
16 Outro and thanks!
The Deluge makes an excellent partner to modular and semi-modular synths. But how does it all work? What is CV? What is a gate? How do you connect all the wires together? I answer these questions in this video. I’ll use the Make Noise 0-Coast and my modular rig to show you some tips and tricks for making the most of the Deluge paired with modular gear.
