US’ big move against Tehran, strikes Iranian missile sites near Hormuz strait with 5,000 pound bombs

Описание: The United States on March 18 carried out strikes using "multiple 5,000-pound (2267 kg) deep penetrator munitions" on Iran. The strikes targeted "hardened Iranian missile sites" along its coastline near the Strait of Hormuz. In a Post on X US CENTCOM said “The Iranian anti-ship cruise missiles in these sites posed a risk to international shipping in the strait." The Hormuz strait, a narrow waterway at the entrance to the Gulf b/w Iran & Oman, is the world's most critical energy chokepoint. A fifth of global oil supplies pass through the strait each day, but Iran has largely shut it, raising fears of a global energy shock. Trump called on nations to help police the strait after Iran responded to U.S.-Israeli attacks by using drones, missiles and mines to effectively close the channel. However, several US allies have already rebuffed Prez Trump's call to send warships to escort tankers through the critical waterway. The war, now in its 19th day, has killed more than 2,000 people, most of them in Iran but also in Israel and across the Gulf states. However, US-Israeli forces continue their strikes against Iranian military infrastructure as Tehran renewed its retaliatory attack
