Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle stepped in within minutes of PMQs after Kemi Badenoch challenged Keir Starmer for not giving MPs an immediate statement on plans linked to UK troops in Ukraine. Hoyle said he had also asked for an early statement, piling pressure on the Prime Minister to update Parliament quickly.
Starmer said any troop deployment would only follow further legal steps and promised a statement “at the earliest opportunity”, adding MPs would get a vote if UK troops were to be deployed.
