Make sure to buy UFI OEM filter. Others have had issues with other brands
For interest and entertainment, watch from 0:00 to 13:45, then skip to 20:30 to end
For proof of no sputter and no stall after cold start, watch whole video, I left that part unedited. This is the first start of the car after 1 month, after carbon clean series on the channel and the fuel filter change. There is no gas giving by foot; the start, high idle and drop in idle are all done by the car. The car would sometimes stall or get very close to stalling before the fuel filter change under light load on the first movement of the day under load (Watch 'LPFP Issue Symptom' video on the channel for footage). I have left the exit of the garage, turn-around and re-enter of garage unedited to show it does not sputter or stall under load when still cold. The cold start is done on a -13 degrees celsius day, steam is normal in these temps
The original 'LPFP Issue Symptom' video on this channel was inspired by an experienced Audi enthusiast and the Car Wizard channel most of you may have seen. The Car Wizard is an excellent channel for people doing their own mechanic work. In one of the Car Wizard's Audi videos, there is an RS4 with the exact same issue as this RS4 which is featured in my 'LPFP Issue Symptom' video. The car sputters and tries to stall on the first cold start of the day, and it is fine for many starts throughout the day once warmed up. At the 5:50 mark he begins discussing and confidently states that the LPFP is bad. In this RS4 case, the fuel filter change with its built in low pressure valve regulator solved the problem. The car in the wizard's shop may have had other issues, but it's a logical first step to change your fuel filter first in this scenario before moving on to the more expensive, more labour intensive job of changing the fuel pump under the rear seat.
the plastic covered 10MM nuts on the larger, side underbody panel are an odd bunch if you are removing that panel to inspect brake and fuel lines, or possibly the one that is required to remove the fuel filter cover panel: some of them come fully off of the studs, and some stay with the cover. Just pry gently on the cover once you have loosened the nut a good number of turns to see if it has released off of the stud. If it has released off the stud, but is still attached to the plastic cover leave it and move on to the next one
The steam from the exhaust may seem visually inconsistent, but this is an illusion occurring because of the chosen frames per second of the video camera
