The 2026 KTM 990 Duke R refines KTM’s middleweight naked formula into a sharper, more track-capable machine while preserving the everyday usability expected from the Duke lineup. Positioned above the standard 990 Duke, the R targets riders who want supersport-level precision without committing to full fairings or extreme ergonomics. At its core is a 947cc LC8c parallel-twin producing 130 horsepower at 9,500 rpm and 76 lb-ft of torque at 6,750 rpm, delivering strong low-end torque, incredible midrange drive, and even some top-end zest, making it suited to both canyon roads and circuit riding.
Chassis revisions play a central role in the transformation. A fully adjustable WP Apex suspension package, aggressive geometry, and upgraded braking components work together with a relatively light 418-pound fueled weight to improve front-end feedback and stability under hard braking. The 33.1-inch seat height and compact 58.3-inch wheelbase maintain the Duke’s signature upright control while supporting a more committed riding position when the pace increases. A 3.9-gallon fuel tank balances range with mass centralization, reinforcing the bike’s performance focus.
With an MSRP of $13,399 USD, or $14,298 as tested, the 990 Duke R sits at the premium end of the middleweight naked category. It is designed for riders cross-shopping high-spec performance sport nakeds who want advanced electronics, precise handling, and track readiness in a street-legal platform.
