Rainfall: Needs 2500–4000 mm of well-distributed rainfall annually, but can be cultivated under assured irrigation.

Productivity and Economic Life

High Yield: Oil palm is the highest-yielding perennial crop, producing 20-25 tonnes of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) per hectare. 

Oil Yield: Each hectare can yield 4-5 tonnes of palm oil and 0.4-0.5 tonnes of palm kernel oil annually. 

Lifespan: The crop has a long economic life span of 30 years.
