There were large crowds following Jesus from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan. The crowds were looking to Jesus to give them something possible wealth and earthly power. They were unaware of what it will mean to be his true followers. Some of them were following Jesus for all the wrong reasons. They were looking for an earthly king and Jesus’ kingdom is the kingdom of heaven. The crowds wanted Jesus miracles and the great things he was doing without commitment. Like a “friends with benefits” without commitment. What crowd are we in? Are we in it just for the benefits, without commitment?
