India have created history by winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, defeating New Zealand in a completely one-sided final at the Narendra Modi Stadium. In front of a packed crowd, India delivered one of the most dominant performances ever seen in a T20 World Cup final, winning the match by a massive 96 runs.

Batting first, India posted a huge 255/5, one of the highest totals in the history of a T20 World Cup final. The innings was powered by Sanju Samson’s brilliant 89 off 46 balls, while Ishan Kishan smashed 54 off just 25 balls and Abhishek Sharma blasted 52 off only 21 balls, giving India a perfect platform.

In the death overs, Shivam Dube finished the innings strongly with a rapid 26 off just 8 balls, pushing India to a massive total that proved far too big for New Zealand.

Chasing 256, New Zealand never really recovered after early breakthroughs. India’s bowling attack completely dominated the second innings. Jasprit Bumrah produced a sensational spell of 4/15, while Axar Patel supported brilliantly with 3/27, dismantling the New Zealand batting lineup.

Despite fighting knocks from Tim Seifert (52 off 26) and Mitchell Santner (43 off 35), New Zealand were bowled out for 159 in 19 overs, handing India a historic victory.

With this win, India become the first team in history to win back-to-back ICC Men’s T20 World Cups (2024 & 2026). It is also India’s third overall T20 World Cup title, confirming their dominance in world cricket.
