Organ Failure Codes
You should ask yourself following 7 questions :
1. Does the medical record mention SIRS or Sepsis or Severe Sepsis or Septic shock by name?
2. What is the route of the cause, such as a Lab blood order, postoperative complication or Obstetrics and Gyn, trauma, injury, or burn or Newborn?
3.What does the Lab report on organisms in blood?
4.If sepsis develops during hospitalization, is it not admitted?
5.Is the admitted case sepsis or a localized infection? or both (Sepsis or localized infection) are admitted?
6. Is there any evidence of Organ Failure?
7.Is it the Septic Shock document?
