Liar's Dice / Bluff / Perudo / Dudo — How to Play 🎲 and Why It's a Gem 💎

Описание: This game goes by many names — Liar's Dice in English, Bluff in German, Perudo or Dudo in Spanish — and there are even more ways to play it. At its core, players shake their dice, slam their dice cup on the table, and peek under. Then it's around the table, guessing/bidding on how many of a particular value there is under everyone's cups. You'll either have to raise the bid, or challenge the last bid, with the loser of the challenge losing dice. Out of dice, out of the game! Liar's Dice first came out in the 1980s from Milton Bradley, and won the Spiel des Jahres (Game of the Year) as Bluff in 1993.

I didn't get into it, but there's debate as to whether it was an original invention from the 1980s by the listed designer, Richard Borg, or if it was based on a much-older public-domain game from South America. My takeaway is that there were a number of similar dice games, some even called Liar's Dice, and the particulars of the Borg design probably got ported back by players of those public-domain games. Time passes, memories get fuzzy, and it's easy to assume the old games were always like that. I'm just an amateur board game historian, though.
