Is the Nigel Sylvester x Air Jordan 4 really a "Sneaker of the Year" candidate or are we so driven by hype that something so mediocre can receive such praise due to its limited availability? Maybe it's not that.
Maybe people are such fans of the collaborator that they'll accept anything that bears their name. Or maybe the storytelling attached to the product was so compelling, or relatable, that people forgave the lack of creative execution in the actual shoe. Should sneaker collaborations be distinct enough to where they are conversation starters for further exposition, or is it ok if the collab is lackluster as long as the storytelling makes up for it?
