The Second Battle of Tarain occurred in 1192 CE near Tarain (Taraori), Haryana, India. It was a decisive conflict between Prithviraj Chauhan, the ruler of the Chauhan dynasty, and Muhammad Ghori of the Ghurid dynasty. Seeking revenge for his previous defeat, Ghori employed a new strategy, dividing his forces into multiple detachments.
Ghori's coordinated attacks caught Chauhan's army off guard. Despite Chauhan's valiant efforts, his forces were overwhelmed, and he was ultimately captured. This marked the end of Chauhan's rule over Delhi and the establishment of the Delhi Sultanate under Ghori's governor, Qutb-ud-din Aibak.
The battle's outcome had far-reaching consequences. It laid the foundation for Muslim rule in northern India for centuries, with subsequent dynasties such as the Delhi Sultans and the Mughals holding power. The Second Battle of Tarain is a significant turning point in Indian history, as it led to the political and cultural transformation of the region
