Subterranean structures called fogous have been found at a number of Iron Age sites in Cornwall. Similar underground tunnels dating to the Iron Age have been discovered in Ireland and Scotland but are referred to as souterrains. No one knows what these mysterious structures were for but a large amount of effort certainly went into building them.
