The Albanian Alps | 3 Days Hiking Valbonë to Theth, Round Trip

Описание: Welcome to a story about the round-trip-hike from Valbonë to Theth and back! Our first Albanian roadtrip, and first time in the Albanian Alps. Taking us from our home in Ohrid, North Macedonia, we drive across the border and up through the Accursed mountains of northern Albania.

In addition to this epic hike, we will take you with us on the Koman Ferry. When we arrived at the Komani Lake Ferry, the magic of the adventure set in. Oh! We also met an unlikely friend: Charlie Boorman. We are now big fans.

It was a rainy start to our hike from Valbonë, but we set out with ponchos and determination. The rain scared off many of the hikers, and we enjoyed the trail mostly to ourselves. The views were breathtaking, and in our opinion, more magical than the actual Alps!

The next day we set out to explore the Blue Eye lake in Theth, taking a plunge or two, before setting in to make the return hike back over the pass to Valbonë.

We loved every day in the incredible country of Albania, and absolutely fell in love with the Albanian Alps. This hike was incredible, and left us longing to return for more hiking and cultural adventures in the region.
