Devprayag is the last Prayag or the holy confluence of the Alaknanda River, from here that the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi River is known as Ganga.
The town is the seat of the pundits of Badrinath Dham. The meaning of Devprayag is Godly confluence as "Dev" man's god and "Prayag" means confluence.
The Ganges flows more than 2,500 kilometers (1,553 miles) before reaching the Bay of Bengal. Two of its main tributaries, the Alaknanda (muddy in the picture) and Bhāgīrathi (blue in the picture) meet Devprayag, in Uttarakhand, India.
