Lost & Found Video Alert… That probably should’ve stayed lost.
Back in 1986, the Buffalo Sabres teamed up with Channel 2, WGRZ to produce a rock music video for use in schools and during the annual “Kids Escaping Drugs” Telethon. The project, dreamed up by producer Lynn Helmsteadt, brought 21 Sabres players to Select Sound Studios to lay down the track.
Titled “Be Fair to Yourself,” the song was written by Dick Bauerle and Ron Lombardo, and featured Sabres favorites Paul Cyr, Mike Foligno, Richie Dunn, Ric Seiling, Mike Ramsey, and Gil Perreault, among others.
Not to be outdone, the WGRZ Sports Department—Ed Kilgore, Wes Goforth, Stu Boyer, and Michael DeGeorge—joined in, showing off their best singing and dance moves.
One of the highlights: Buffalo’s beloved drummer Ted Reinhardt kicks things off in the opening shot. The video was filmed by Channel 2 photographers Bob Mancuso and Bob Velazquez.
