Glencoe & The Three Sisters: Climbing Bidean nam Bian | Scotland RV Day 4

Описание: Day four in Scotland begins in Glencoe — and the group chooses pain.

Just minutes from the iconic Wee White House of Glencoe, they park near the legendary Three Sisters mountain range of the Scottish Highlands. With only snacks, water, and loose plans, Stratton, Derek, and Youngeun set out for what they thought would be a moderate hike.

It was not moderate.

After following advice from seasoned climbers, they head into the valley between two of the Three Sisters. A tour bus arrives. A lone bagpiper fills the glen with music that echoes across the mountains. For once, even Stratton has to admit — this is exactly where bagpipes belong.

Then come the false summits.

One peak becomes two. Two becomes three. And before long, 3,500 feet of elevation over just two miles leads Stratton and Youngeun to the summit of Bidean nam Bian — the highest point in Argyll.

Derek turns back before the snow patches begin.

Armed with a portable water filter and very little preparation for a full mountain ascent, they make it down safely — with an icy plunge into glacial runoff for good measure.

After refueling with a ramen creation in their RV kitchen, they drive to the Old Boat of Caol, often called Scotland’s most photogenic shipwreck. While Derek explores the wreckage and Youngeun sketches the shoreline, Stratton falls asleep on the rocky beach — briefly interrupted by local teens attempting to start a questionable beach fire.

The night ends at a free community center car park, complete with chemical toilet disposal — yet another new RV milestone.

Somewhere along the descent from the mountain, they even find a full Red Bull sitting at a false summit.

No explanation. Just Scotland.
