GMC Doctor Suspended for Alleged Negligence; IMA Goa Slams Minister’s Action

Описание: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has suspended Dr Rudresh Kuttikar, the Chief Medical Officer in charge of the Casualty Block at Goa Medical College (GMC), citing alleged negligence and mistreatment of patients.

The suspension followed a surprise inspection by the Minister at GMC, during which he interacted directly with patients and their families. Several of them reportedly complained of poor treatment in the casualty section. Taking serious note of the grievances, Rane issued immediate suspension orders against Dr Kuttikar.

“People should be treated with dignity when they come for medical help. Any form of indifference or disrespect will not be tolerated,” the Minister asserted.

However, the Goa unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) strongly condemned the Minister’s approach. In a press release, the IMA stated that the issue could have been handled through proper channels without publicly humiliating the doctor.

“We demand that the suspension order be revoked. There were many other ways to address the issue. Future course of action will be decided accordingly,” the IMA said.
