How did it start?



I got started in the Strip Club Industry 16 years ago. I was attending the Connecticut School of Broadcasting when my instructor encouraged me to get a part time gig in a strip club to get more comfortable behind a microphone. So the next day I called an ad in the paper and a very hung over guy named Rattlehead answered and set up an audition at T's Lounge in West Palm Beach Fl. I got this job thanks to a guy named Vance Phillips. Vance told a very nervous 1st time audition everything to say on the mic. I just repeated him and got the gig.



Why do they call you Platypus?



Probably the most asked question in my life. I just got in at T's Lounge and DJ Dave Lonardo took me down the street to get drunk at Flash dance our competition at the time. It was Friday night around midnight and the place was packed. Then this DJ stops the music and addressed the crowd in 3rd person and his name was Bonzai. He started a 3 minute rant yelling at the owner at the bar telling him he wants to go home. At that point DJ Dave says to our group, "This guy sucks and he gets a cool nickname we should have cool nicknames." Then he looked at me and said "You look like a platypus". From that moment Everyone just called me Platypus. It was a fraternity name and I would never disrespect that fraternity. Which is why 16 years later I still go by the name Platypus.



Why do a radio show now?



Anyone who knows me outside the strip club community can't wait to hear stories about my night at work. They are so fascinated by what I do for a living. The most common request I get is: "Tell me what happened at the club last night". I figured I could kill many birds with one stone. There is another MAIN reason for doing all of this. This industry has never come together as an entity. In today's technology you have info at your fingertips 24/7. Believe it or not, there are certain groups in the mainstream market that hate the strip club business. The sooner we come together as an Industry, the harder it will be for outside organizations to attempt to derail us as an industry. The industry needs a voice and that's where Planet Platypus comes in. We will voice our opinions in the most entertaining way possible. Hopefully in the process we will come together as a group. That is the plan. There are some great individuals in this business and I think this is a great forum to educate the masses.



What are some of your major accomplishments?



I have been the Head DJ for Tootsies Cabaret for over a decade. I have also been the Corporate Head DJ for Ricks Cabaret for over 5 years. I work behind the scenes for the Exotic Dancer awards show and also have the honor of heading up a section in their magazine representing strip club DJ's across the nation. I have won several industry awards including the 2011 Industry Employee of the Year. My biggest achievement is being a major part of the best team in the business, the staff of Tootsies Cabaret where in 2012 we finally won the Club of the Year for the industry. This award is the Super Bowl trophy for our industry and the one I wanted to win the most.



Outside of the industry, what are some of your hobbies/interests?



My father used to always tell me "You are a big kid, you will never grow up." It's true, I really enjoy playing video games and I also coach and play on the Tootsie's softball team. I enjoy listening to music all the time. Something people probably don't know about me is that when I'm not at work I enjoy listening to classical, jazz and of coarse the blues. I am from Chicago after all I have a bulldog named Stinky and she takes up a lot of my free time.



What is most important to you?



The safety and happiness of my family comes first. I come from a big Italian family filled with love and support. I am a mamma's boy and proud to admit it. My 2 older sister's are my best friends. I can tell them anything. I have 2 brother in law's and 4 of the most brilliant special nieces any uncle could ask for. My first cousin Allen is more like my baby brother then a cousin. After my family the job comes next. Tootsies Cabaret is my life! I am very dedicated to all the amazing people that make that club work. It's my home away from home.
