May 25, 1991 - In a lead up to Game 3 of the 1991 Eastern Conference Finals between the Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls, NBC's Pat Riley (yes, NBC's Pat Riley) provided an inside look on the work ethic and contributions of Dennis Rodman. Riley, who stepped down as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers in 1990 after being named Coach of the Year, spent one season with NBC as a studio host and analyst before returning to the coaching ranks with the New York Knicks for the 1991-92 season. The 1990-91 season was the first for NBC as the league's primary broadcast partner, taking over for CBS.
Rodman, a future Hall of Famer, won two NBA championships as a member of the Pistons before winning three more with the Chicago Bulls later in the decade.
