This video covers the introductory information for lawyers who have been appointed to the role a Arbitrator, with the Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County.
The Arbitration program is mandatory for disputes valued at $50,000 or less where no party seeks relief other than a money judgment. In these cases, the Court appoints an arbitrator to decide the case and any award. Arbitrators are practicing lawyers with at least five years of experience. Many arbitrators serve without having a background in litigation, the rules of evidence, or the court process. Fortunately, the Arizona Rules of Civil Procedure provide a framework for how arbitration cases are managed.
This is the first in a series of 7 videos going over the essential tools for the Arbitration Program. Use the links below for the subsequent other videos in the series.
