GEO Pomona Waste Management is driving Zimbabwe’s rise as a leader in global waste management, according to CEO and Executive Chairman Dr Dilesh Nguwaya. Through strategic collaborations with countries such as Türkiye and Belgium, Zimbabwe is gaining international recognition in the sector.
Dr Nguwaya revealed that over 250 000 tonnes of waste have been cleared from long-neglected illegal dump sites since Geo Pomona partnered the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works. The initiative has attracted interest from SADC countries and beyond, keen to learn from Zimbabwe’s experience.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa recently commissioned a new fleet of refuse collection equipment, boosting Harare’s drive towards cleaner streets and improved environmental health.
