Internal impingement is a completely different type of shoulder impingement that occurs on the undersurface, or articular side, or the rotator cuff.
It involves the undersurface of the supraspinatus and infraspinatus impinging against the glenoid rim.
This predominantly happens in overhead athletes, such as baseball pitchers.
