Описание: A letter signed by 65 Indian lawmakers sent to the American President Barack Obama urging him to keep Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi out of the US. But back home it has stirred a hornets nest with many of the MPs who feature in the letter denying having ever signed the letter. CPM leader Sitaram Yechury's words setting off a political storm as allegations of forgery raised many questions over the authenticity of the letter and Achuthan, CPI MP contradicted Yechury, adding to the confusion. With charges and counter charges flying thick and fast, there was more embarrassment in store as other members of Parliament whose name features in the letter denied having signed it. Adding to the controversy, the denials have come from members of political parties who are opposed to the BJP, putting the Congress in a tight spot. With the BJP planning to move the privilege committee over MPs letter to Obama, the Congress distancing itself from the controversy while the Government completely washed its hands off the issue.
