I'm now using custom GPT tutors in all my courses. I find that this is an underutilized generative AI tool. The idea is simple: upload all lecture material taught so far into a sandbox, and let students generate their own questions and problems based on the material - the feedback is sourced from the curated input.
In this video, I explain how to create such a custom tutor for a course on operating systems: Students in my "Coding with AI" courses at Lyon College have successfully built their own tutors in less than 1/2 hour.
