In a mix I did awhile back I was having some fun using multiple Bass Amp Sims on the "Bass Amp" track in different parts of the session. I just about always duplicate the Bass DI (if the Recording Engineer did not mic a bass amp up) and on the duplicated track I do my utmost to make it sound like a killer Bass Amp. This way I can blend the Bass DI and the Bass Amp tracks together for some really killer bass tones to get as much or as little tonal variation as I want.

In THIS track I decided to go one step further and make 2 duplicates of the Bass DI and have 2 Bass Amp tracks where I used 2 different sounding Bass Amp Sims (one on each). To keep things interesting I automated 1 Bass Amp on in the first half of the song and then automated the other Bass Amp on in the last 2 choruses. The result was 2 different yet killer Bass tones in the same song to keep things interesting and the listener engaged.
