The Makapili, other paramilitary groups and Filipino informers
With Maria Felisa Tan
Part of Philippines week on WW2TV
• Philippines Week
In this show, Maria Felisa Tan unflinchingly explains the neglected other side of the war in the Philippines: the paramilitary collaborators. Using mainly the People's Court records and Supreme Court decisions, Dr. Tan brings to life all the ugliness, the horror, the tragedy of the actions of these - albeit in the minority - Filipinos
Dr. Maria Felisa Syjuco Tan is a Philippine historian, professor, and author; specializing in the fields of World War II and Philippine Contemporary History. Her first book entitled, "The Kempei Tai in the Philippines", was published in 1988. It was a tribute to her father Jose Syjuco, a survivor of World War II and the Bataan Death March. Her succeeding works focused on contemporary history with the series Highlights of Philippine History. She is the author of: "The Makapili: Other Paramilitary Groups, and Filipino Informers during the Japanese Occupation of the Philippines"
