The Long Dark is not like other survival games that re-spawn resources. In this one, you have a set amount of resources scattered throughout the several maps. Dependent on game mode, they are seemingly abundant in the beginning waning to virtually nothing. Some will waste away before you can even get to them.
You will die if you live long enough. The question is how long will you survive until then.
