The city is an incredible medieval town located in the province of Utrecht (Netherlands). Amersfoort city center has several historical buildings dated back to the Middle Ages. The most famous and iconic medieval building of the city is undoubtedly the Koppelpoort, which is a medieval city gate that was completed around 1425. Muurhuizen is also a special feature to discover in Amersfoort, it literally translates to "houses next to the gate", in some parts of the city, you can witness the remaining vestiges of the Muurhuizen.
