Ian Partridge, now retired at 87, has been one of Britain's leading lyric tenors. His wide repertoire encompasses the music of Monteverdi, Bach and Handel, the Elizabethan lute songs, German, French and English songs and first performances of new works. He shared many performances and recordings with his pianist sister, Jennifer Partridge.
His recordings of songs by Vaughan Williams, including On Wenlock Edge and Ten Blake Songs, are particularly treasured, and these are remembered in his conversation with Andrew Green, representing The Ralph Vaughan Williams Society.
