The Cost of Complexity: Building a Lightweight Composite Door

This week, we focus on a complex composite door for Paikea, where a 350-gram saving required an intricate design and a meticulous layup process. We break down the engineering challenge of integrating structural edges with a thin panel and demonstrate the techniques needed to laminate complex geometry without compromising the laminate.

Alongside this, we continue systems work, rewiring the main cabin and installing other, simpler doors to show the spectrum of work in a full refit.
