Ian Brannan takes you on a voyage of discovery to check out the many speedway tracks of British Speedway. From Edinburgh to Plymouth this series aims to bring you a look at some of the hidden gems of the sport, and a few tales from the journey!
This road trip takes up north of the border to Armadale Stadium, home of the Edinburgh Monarchs. The stadium opened in 1939 as a greyhound racing venue, with the Monarchs commencing their time here in 1997. Speedway in Edinburgh began in 1928, and since then Edinburgh have claimed a variety of stadiums as their home, including Old Meadowbank and Powderhall.
Armadale presents a different kind of challenge for many speedway riders, and in this video we take a look around and get insight into the track from Edinburgh No1 rider Josh Pickering.
