Описание: Society Hall is excited to welcome the award-winning “acousti-clectic folk-grass” of Texas-via-Westcliffe duo Smythe and Taylor to the stage!

TC Smythe and Gary Taylor originally got together in the Houston, Texas area, but have both made their homes in the Westcliffe, Colorado area since the early 2000's, while still continuing to tour nationally and internationally. Says Society Hall board member and Alamosa music producer Don Richmond, “Gary and TC are amazing – they travel the world with their music, but live just over the hill in Westcliffe. We at Society Hall are thrilled to get them to hop over those Crestone Peaks and share their music over on this side of the mountains!”

Smythe & Taylor formed in 1999 when a friend asked TC if she could sub for him at a coffee shop gig. She only knew a handful of songs, but there was $85 to be had! A co-worker suggested she go up to the 28th floor of the office building where she worked to find a fellow named Gary Taylor. It was rumored that he knew how to play over 1000 songs! After getting acquainted, they scheduled a rehearsal to prepare for the one-off gig at Diedrich’s Coffee in the Montrose area of Houston. 20 years, 11 recordings, and 10 European tours later, ‘S&T’ have become well known for their symbiotic harmonies, comedic timing, excellent sound quality, and their unique “3D” style of guitar playing.

After Gary won the Woody Guthrie Songwriting Award, S&T were nominated in 5 categories of the Texas Music Awards. They won the “Popular Cover” and “Vocal Group of the Year” awards. Since 2009, S&T have hosted the High Peaks Music Festival in Westcliffe, Colorado, and have enjoyed a standing invitation to bookend the Sweet Home Fest in Guildford, England since 2017. S&T have played hundreds of venues but enjoy performing at listening rooms, festivals, and house concerts the best.

The Society Hall board, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a place for community celebrations of all kinds, invites everyone to join them in the hall for a wonderful night of “acousti-clectic folk-grass” music with Smythe and Taylor at Society Hall, at the corner of 4th Street and Ross Avenue in Alamosa, Saturday, January 31 st at 7:00 pm. Doors open at 6:00.
Tickets are $20.00 and are available at the Society Hall website at www.societyhall.org or at the Green Spot, at 711 State Ave in Alamosa.
