Here is a Masterson Method®️ technique that can help your horse release tension in the TMJ area.
This is called the TMJ Point and we use the Search Response Stay Release (SRSR) technique to search in the TMJ area for the horse's blink of an eye to find the exact point where he responds. When we see this response, we stay with our finger there lightly, with airgap pressure, until the horse starts showing releasing signs. Watch Jim's video explaining exactly how to locate this spot.
