The design of temporary structures is often underestimated due to their short service life, yet they demand the same attention as permanent structure especially at the connections. If not properly verified, connection failures can trigger instability, collapse, and serious risk during construction.

We will demonstrate how to design the connections for the strutting system of a sheet pile retaining wall for deep excavation works as well as the design of reinforcement and anchoring of its thrust block, which is commonly designed using spreadsheets.
