I decided to buy an ely for the inferno and tested out the corporeal beast with a shield swap into the avernic defender for my hits. I would suggest using a shield at this boss since it does reduce damage a lot.
You can also use a kodai wand to reduce damage(has magic defense) although I personally don't use a mage weapon as the 2 way switches are a bit harder to pull off while dodging corps attacks and the core. Another way to reduce damage is by flicking augury on and off when not using melee on the boss.
