Bio:
Mafie Zouker:
Mafie is most known for his creative interpretation of Zouk dance and music called NeoZouk.
Mafie achieved unprecedented worldwide recognition for his innovations in his revolutionary dance style and for his intricate music remixes. He describes an early moment of realization on the dance floor: 'with zouk dance and music, anything is possible,' which allowed him to pursue his new generation style of Zouk. Indeed, Mafie was one of the first people to crown an official Zouk style in the 3rd generation of styles (after LambaZouk and Rio Style Zouk).
NeoZouk has integrated ZoukFlow to create this current exciting experience.
Kim Rottier:
Kim Rottier was introduced to Brazilian Dance in 2004 at Rio Rhythmics, a Brazilian dance school in Australia, where she studied Zouk, Salsa, Samba, Forro, Gafieira, Merengue, Bolero and Bossa Nova under the instruction and supervision of Tarcisio Teatini-Climaco and his team of teachers. After a period of extensive training, Kim joined several performance teams including Lenny and Mio's acrobatic Salsa team, the Rio Rhythmics Student Training Team, and the Rio Rhythmics Professional Performance Team.
Kim began teaching Zouk in NY in 2006. She founded her own dance organization, Zouk NY, with the goal of sharing the Brazilian styles she loves with her new home, New York. Kim taught at Sandra Cameron Dance Center (SCDC) from 2005-2009, and at Piel Canela Dance Academy (PCD) from 2009-present. Today, Kim manages the Zouk program at PCD, a role that involves managing the curriculum, recruiting and training teachers and teaching assistants, and training a student performance team in collaboration with PCD. In addition, through Zouk NY, Kim teaches at additional studios, conducts teacher training courses, and hosts weekly dance parties.
Kim has had the pleasure of hosting numerous intensive weekend workshops referred to as "dance marathons" and partnering with exceptional dancers from around the world such as K-Yo Victor, Israel Szerman, Pablo Schmoller, Willem Engel, Junior Cervila, Daniel Raphael, Leon Gordin, Pedro Mesquita, Patrick Carvalho, Gert Faber, Luciana Guinle, Tatiana Leme, Larissa Thayane, and Mari Hodges. Kim has also been invited to conduct such workshops in Knoxville, Washington DC, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Miami, and has taught at many dance congresses including the New York International Salsa Congress, the DC Bachata Festival, the Toronto Bachata Festival, and the Porto Seguro Zouk Congress.
