Hello, welcome back and thanks for watching! Today is going to be the first episode of a 3 part series! I wanted to make a series for people who are wondering how they can build they’re audience through social media. I’m going to talk about instagram in today’s video, then I’ll look at TikTok, and lastly YouTube.

Now, I’ve already made a few videos on instagram so I’ll pop the playlist up here for you to come back to, you can pretty much get the gist of how instagram works from those videos, which is why this is the first part of the series as an introduction really. What I want you to keep in mind is, that you need to plan out just how you want to utilise the three platforms. In my opinion it’s important you use one of the big three to give an insight into you as a person and your day to day life, and personally I would recommend using your instagram profile for this. You can do it with TikTok if you choose, though I think TikTok is better suited for sharing your work… but more on that next week. So assuming you take my advice, and use Instagram to show your more, personal side, home life or however you want to describe it, here’s how I think you should use the platform to your advantage!

Getting Started
So lets look at your profile. The first thing you want to do is pick your profile picture. You want to find something that is going to stand out. Don’t take me for an example. My instagram profile picture is black and white, and I’d suggest finding something colourful that will stand out in comment sections. I would however say, make it a photo of yourself over anything else. Remember, you’re doing this to raise awareness of YOUR work, so find your favourite photo and slap it on your profile. Maybe do a bit of photoshop if you can and add some contrast.

Next you want to look at your bio. This is your opportunity to explain what you’re about. Write something quirky, throw in some fun emojis if you see fit, and most importantly, use the website option to create a free linktree link. You want to have your website if you’ve got one and your youtube channel linked on there, as well as anything else you think your readers might want to check out.

Growing
It’s harder now than ever to grow on instagram but still possible, and once you have all 3 social media platforms working in conjunction with each other, that will help also. To grow on instagram, you want to make sure you’re being HUMAN. I’ve spoken about it before in my video dedicated to growing. Don’t be a robot. Make sure you’re engaging with other creators posts, leaving insightful and meaningful comments, and make sure you use hashtags to the best of your ability. As I already have an in depth video on growth, I’m going to leave in a card up top.

Nurturing your community
Remember that these are the people taking the time to read and engage with your work. It is super important that you do your best to show your appreciation for that. Reply back to comments when and where you can, hold live streams so you can get to know them, and they can get to know you. Basically, just be thankful and a decent human being and you’ll be fine. With any luck you’ll build a large enough community that eventually this will become difficult, but regardless you should still make it a priority!

How to post.
Okay, let’s look at how you should be posting. I’ve already mentioned about keeping the medium in mind. I would highly recommend looking at ways to have carrousel posts whenever possible. The reason being that if someone is shown your carrousel post, and only looks at the first image, they will be shown the second image the next time they log in. That means your post is twice was likely to be engaged with than if you only posted one photo.

Juggling multiple social media platforms can be a strain at times, which is why I would suggest you taking a weekend to plan out a whole MONTH’s worth of posts and scheduling them using Facebook’s Business Creator Studio: https://business.facebook.com/creator...
