Описание: The work Shruti is a Sanskrit word which means ‘that which is heard’ and describes the basic elements of how Indian classical music systems are constructed. Shruti describes not only the notes that make up any given scale or raga, but more importantly the tonal or key center around which a performance is based. The Shruti Box is an instrument designed to provide the Shruti or drone base of the performance and is more likely to be found in South Indian classical or Carnatic music than North Indian classical or Hindustani music. It is a sibling of the harmonium, and although easier to play, can perform a similar function and is based on the same technology that the harmonica, melodica and pump organ are built on. It is portable and I’ve taken my Shruti Box to recording sessions, the tops of mountains, electronica performances, sound installations in beautiful gardens and even to a friend’s deathbed. It is quite simply, and beautifully, an instrument of the soul. And did I mention it's easy to play?
