From there, it’s off to Waratah, a fascinating old mining town where waterfalls tumble right through the heart of town. While based here, we take on the lush Philosopher Falls walk, an enchanting trail through moss-covered rainforest that leads to a dramatic cascade — a must-do for nature lovers.
❄️ As the chill of winter settles in, we brave the famously winding and icy range, the 99 Bends out of Queenstown, making our way inland to Derwent Bridge, nestled beside Lake St Clair. Surrounded by World Heritage wilderness, it’s a peaceful contrast to the wild west coast.

To wrap up our journey, we travel east into Tasmania’s Heartland, setting up camp at Hawksmere, a tranquil bush retreat just south of Kempton. Here, we slow things down, visiting local farm stalls and tasting the rich produce this region is known for.
